👥 Speakers: Mr Crispin Davis
Our Taster Lessons are live events that give you the opportunity to meet our expert teachers and see what teaching and learning is like at our ground-breaking online school. Our Chemistry Teacher, Mr Crispin Davis, will give you an idea of what it’s like to study his subject at A level and will offer you the opportunity to ask any questions that you have about Chemistry A level and/or teaching and learning at Highgrove Online School during our Q&A.
Crispin Davis has taught Chemistry for over 20 years, and has several years online teaching experience. Prior to joining Highgrove Education he worked at Harrow School Online, where he taught Chemistry, BMAT and UCAT and the EPQ course, and held the role of Deputy Principal.
Mr Davis was educated at Saint Andrew’s College, Dublin before reading Chemistry at The University of Sheffield where he remained for a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry and PGCE. He started his teaching career at Ashville College as a boarding master and ultimately Head of Chemistry.
In 2005, Crispin became Head of Science at Francis Holland School, preparing students for UKCAT and BMAT testing, as well as implementing the Extended Project Qualification. Between 2010-2017 he was the Deputy Head Academic at LVS Ascot.
Why Study Chemistry at A Level?
The International A level in Chemistry is your passport to exploring the secrets of atoms, molecules, and reactions. In the AS level, you’ll uncover the mysteries of atomic structure, chemical bonding, and organic chemistry, delving into everything from formulas to the periodic table. As you progress to the A2 level, you’ll tackle kinetics, equilibria, and dive deeper into the fascinating world of organic chemistry. The core practical experiments of the International A level are covered in depth within the course, and assessed via examination paper. Whether you dream of becoming a chemist, researcher, or simply want to understand the chemistry of the world around you, this qualification is your chance to unravel the molecules of life.
Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your place today. See you there!
