Economics A level Taster Lesson
Join our live Taster Lesson to meet one of our outstanding teachers and experience first-hand how learning works at our innovative online school. In this session, our Economics teacher, Mr Jonathan Shields, will introduce you to what studying Economics at A level involves. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions about the Economics course or about learning at Highgrove Online School during an open Q&A.
Mr Shields has been teaching A level Economics and Business for more than twenty-five years. Before joining Highgrove Online School, he taught at Harrow School Online, where 86% of his Economics students achieved A*–A grades in 2023.
An award-winning educator, he has served as Head of Sixth Form, Head of Economics and Business, and Director of Teaching and Learning. He is also a principal examiner in Business for Edexcel and an OFQUAL subject specialist in Economics and Business. Over the years, his students have secured first place in UK external examinations on twenty occasions, and he has supported students in winning 22 national and international competitions in Business and Economics, including the International Business Olympiad, UK Young Enterprise, and Student Investor competitions. Mr Shields has co-authored five Economics and Business textbooks and acted as a consultant editor for nine more.
