A levels are pre-university qualifications taken by academically minded pupils studying in Years 12 and 13 of the British education system. They are seen as gold-standard qualifications because of their academic depth and rigour, and gaining strong grades in three or more A levels can open doors to top universities and global career opportunities. Choosing which subjects to take at A level needs careful consideration as it can impact the future pathways available to you.
To help you choose your A levels, Highgrove Online School will be hosting a dedicated live webinar focused on this topic. Join us on Wednesday, February 12 from 17:30 to 18:15 GMT. This online session will be the perfect opportunity to learn more about choosing A levels. It is open to all students and families, whether or not you are considering studying at Highgrove.
The session is led by Highgrove’s Head of Coaching, who runs our universities and academic coaching programmes and has a wealth of experience in advising pupils on their academic choices. Here’s what we’ll cover during the session:
- The range of factors you should take into account when making your subject choices, and how to weigh these up.
- Understanding the differences between subject content at A level, and how this differs from GCSE or other prior studies.
- Key and facilitating subjects for entrance to specific degrees and careers, and how to select helpful subject combinations.
- Participants will be given a takeaway from the webinar showing recommended A level subjects for different UK university degrees, along with access exams which may be required.
There will be plenty of time for you to ask questions, so be sure to come with what’s on your mind! Grab a snack and a cuppa and settle in for an hour of engaging and insightful discussion around the hugely important topic of choosing the right A levels.
