This elective covers a range of aspects of nutrition and diet, including a grounding in dietary components and digestion, and consideration of food deficiencies.  Other topics include performance enhancers and diet for athletes, food for mental well-being and how food can be used as a medicine.

  • Enrolment in our pre-GCSE or pre-A level access course.
  • Access to our self-study materials and platform, live class lessons, and individual teacher support in Office Hours.
  • Weekly teacher-marked homework.

  • Support from our SENDCo for pupils with special educational needs or disabilities, including assessment for access arrangement entitlement.

Teacher Profile

Ms Yerbury has been teaching Biology for over 20 years, most recently at Harrow School Online, where her pupils achieved 75% A*-A in their 2023 A level results in Biology.  She has worked as an A level examiner for three examination boards, including Edexcel IAL, where she is a Team Leader. She is also a materials author, and has contributed to Edexcel IAL Biology and Chemistry A2 Textbooks written in 2018, and worked as a reviewer on the self-study materials written for Harrow School Online, as well as authoring the courses for Highgrove Online School. Ms Yerbury holds a joint honours degree in Biology and Geography and a PGCE in Biology and Games from the University of Bristol.
