Invest in Your Future: New Elective Programmes at Highgrove Education

Elective courses

We are starting our elective programmes at Highgrove Education in the last week of September and our most popular courses are all about investment.

Knowing how to invest money well is a life skill that very few of us learnt at school, and yet it can make such a difference to your financial security, whatever career you end up in.

By popular demand, we’re running an adults class for our flagship course, Introduction to Investment. Lessons are 45 minutes once a week on Tuesdays at 1600 throughout the academic year, and help you find your way around topics such as financial markets, bonds, derivatives, investment funds, life insurance and taxation. If you like the idea of taking an exam to show what you’ve learnt, when you finish the course you can have a shot at The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI) level 3 exam.

In order to apply for a spot, complete our online application form, select ‘Adult Courses’ from the programme options and then complete your details, including the elective title. Course fees are £200 per term and it should be the best investment you’ll make!

We run the same course for our year 12 students (Mondays at 1700), and then a further course for year 13 called Financial Asset Management. After completing that course and CISI examination, three of our sixth formers at Harrow School Online went on to take one further exam and qualify as stockbrokers – an incredible achievement for kids still too young to own credit cards.

We have one final course we’re running on request for slightly younger teens, an introductory course called Fundamentals of Financial Securities (Tuesdays at 1700), designed for ambitious teens wanting to start out on their journey of CISI exams with a level 2 post-graduate qualification. Plus for teens wanting to start their own businesses, a ten-week programme on Entrepreneurship (Fridays at 1100), ending in a dragon’s den style pitch to a panel of investors.

These things all rank pretty high on the list of things I wish I’d learnt at school, but I’m planning on putting that right by making it along to the Introduction to Investment course this year. Looking forward to being joined by some other fabulous people who are interested in upping their investment game.
