Ben Cole has taught Latin, Classical Greek, Classical Civilisation, and Ancient History for over twenty years at a number of prestigious schools. He was Head of Classics at Hurstpierpoint College and Magdalen College School, Oxford, for twelve years in total. He was in charge of Oxbridge preparation for all candidates for seven years at Hurst and has supported a significant number of Oxbridge Classics candidates.
Mr Cole graduated from Oxford University with a 2:1 in Literae Humaniores (Classics) in 2004 and went on to complete his PGCE at Buckingham University. His pupils have achieved excellent results under his care, including one year when all 47 GCSE pupils studying Latin and Greek achieved A*s. He feels strongly that teaching must involve a deep passion for the subject and a desire to draw out a similar excitement and hunger for knowledge and understanding from any pupil.
Mr Cole has spent time as a primary school governor and, latterly, Chair of Governors. He lives in Winchester with his wife (a teacher of German), two children, and hamster called Günther.
