Jonathan Shields
Jonathan has taught Economics and Business Studies at A level for over twenty-five years, most recently at Harrow School Online, where his pupils achieved 86% A*-A grades in A level Economics in 2023.
He is a multiple award-winning teacher who has additionally held positions of Head of Sixth Form, Head of Economics and Business, and Director of Teaching and Learning.
He is chief examiner for GCSE Business for Edexcel, Principal Examiner for A Level Business and an OFQUAL subject expert in Economics and Business. The students Jonathan has taught have achieved UK first places in external examinations on 20 separate occasions, and he has mentored students to win 22 UK and International Business and Economics Competitions, including the International Business Olympiad, UK Young Enterprise and Student Investor competitions.
Jonathan has co-authored five Economics and Business textbooks and has been a consultant editor on a further nine textbooks. He reviewed self-study courses for Harrow School Online and authored courses for Highgrove Online School. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Hull and a PGCE from the University of Leeds. Jonathan lives in Cornwall in Bodmin Moor.
