Dr Ravi Shankar has taught Chemistry for 8 years starting at Imperial College London, where he conducted tutorial classes for first year undergraduates. During his tenure, he has taught GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry to students, both in the UK and around the world, through online classes. His students have scored excellent grades and have secured places at top Russell Group universities.
Mr Shankar graduated with a First Class Honours MEng degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2016. He studied the third year of his undergraduate degree at RWTH Aachen University in Germany and can speak fluent German. He then went on to complete his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London in 2021. As an avid runner, he ran the London Marathon in 2018 whilst pursuing his PhD and raised over £2000 for The Children’s Trust. He also loves to bake with his wife and has contributed to several charity cake sales.
After completing his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, Mr Shankar founded his own science-focused teaching centre, Shankar Academy, in his native India in 2023, which offers tuition classes for students following the national Indian curriculum. In just the first year, all of his students scored above 90% in the equivalent of their A-Level Chemistry exams. Mr Shankar is an optimist with regards to harnessing the potential of technology for education and is passionate about instilling “learning for life” in students during their formative years.
