Sarah Ryan

Sarah Ryan has taught English Language and Literature for over twenty-five years in a wide range of successful independent schools. She taught most recently at Stonyhurst College, where she also took on the role of Director of Teaching and Learning. Prior to this she served as a head of department, a senior leader in three schools (with both academic and pastoral responsibilities) and she has additionally worked as an examiner and an inspector. 

Mrs Ryan holds bachelors and masters degrees in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford and a masters of research degree from Goldsmiths, University of London.  She combines tutoring with academic research, which she finds greatly informs her teaching.  She is familiar with a wide range of English specifications at GCSE and A level and additionally teaches the IB. Mrs Ryan has also taught Latin, History, and RS to GCSE and Classical Studies to A level. 

Mrs Ryan lives in Lancashire with her teacher husband, Paul, and they have a grown-up daughter who has also gone into the family trade. Her cats Maud and Fina are getting a thorough literary education sitting under the desk while she teaches.
