A Level Biology Taster Lesson
Our Taster Lessons are live events that give you the opportunity to meet our expert teachers and see what teaching and learning is like at our ground-breaking online school. Our Biology Teacher, Ms Katrina Yerbury, will give you an idea of what it’s like to study her subject at A level and will offer you the opportunity to ask any questions that you have about Biology A level and/or teaching and learning at Highgrove Online School during our Q&A.
Katrina Yerbury has been teaching Biology for over 20 years, most recently at Harrow School Online, where her pupils achieved 75% A*-A in their 2023 A level results in Biology. Prior to this she was employed as a Teaching and Learning Lead Practitioner at King Edward VI School, where alongside teaching A level Biology and AS level Chemistry, she provided mentoring and support for trainee and newly qualified teachers.
Ms Yerbury has worked as an A level examiner for three examination boards, including for Pearson Edexcel, where she is Principal Examiner for both National and International A Level Biology. She is also a materials author, and has contributed to Edexcel IAL Biology and Chemistry A2 Textbooks written in 2018, and worked as a reviewer on the self-study materials written for Harrow School Online, as well as authoring the courses for Highgrove Online School.
Ms Yerbury holds a joint honours degree in Biology and Geography from the University of Bristol and a PGCE in Biology and Games, also from the University of Bristol.
