A Level Economics Taster Lesson
Our Taster Lessons are live events that give you the opportunity to meet our expert teachers and see what teaching and learning is like at our ground-breaking online school. Our Economics Teacher, Mr Jonathan Shields, will give you an idea of what it’s like to study his subject at A level and will offer you the opportunity to ask any questions that you have about Economics A level and/or teaching and learning at Highgrove Online School during our Q&A.
Jonathan Shields has taught Economics and Business Studies at A level for over twenty-five years, most recently at Harrow School Online, where his pupils achieved 86% A*-A grades in A level Economics in 2023.
He is a multiple award-winning teacher who has additionally held positions of Head of Sixth Form, Head of Economics and Business, and Director of Teaching and Learning.
Mr Shields is principal examiner for Business for Edexcel and an OFQUAL subject expert in Economics and Business. The students Jonathan has taught have achieved UK first places in external examinations on 20 separate occasions, and he has mentored students to win 22 UK and International Business and Economics Competitions, including the International Business Olympiad, UK Young Enterprise and Student Investor competitions. Mr Shields has co-authored five Economics and Business textbooks and has been a consultant editor on a further nine textbooks.
