Scientific writing is central to communication in science. It is used by scientists to share ideas with each other and the public. This elective introduces you to different forms of scientific writing such as informal blog-style articles and traditionally structured articles in scientific journals. We will look at the styles and conventions in scientific writing and you will have a go at writing your own article too. We will also explore new avenues for communicating scientific ideas with wider audiences, such as podcasts and video media.
There will be an opportunity to put your newly learned skills into practice by writing an entry for the Oxford Scientist’s School Science Writing Competition in the summer term.
